Hi, I'm Caryn, and I build websites.
I’m a mobile-first responsive design enthusiast who enjoys integrating the artistic and technical aspects of design and development. I have loved designing and developing websites since the early days of the web.
What I can do for you:
My specialty is building responsive websites from end to end, designed to fit the needs of small businesses. I combine artistry with technical precision, to produce tasteful and functional web solutions. I can create beautiful custom graphics, design, build, publish and host your website, or provide any combination of these services. I have an extensive background in Information Technology so I understand how all the different pieces fit together.
Whether you need ongoing support or want to handle content management yourself, I've got you covered. I can build a completely custom site and perform content updates for you, or customize a WordPress theme to provide a site that you can maintain yourself. I will work with you to tailor a solution to your specific requirements.
The skills I bring:
My core proficiencies are in HTML, CSS, responsive design, and Photoshop. I'm skilled in photo effects, composite images, digital drawing and painting with Photoshop. I have experience with grid systems, frameworks, scripting languages and libraries, including JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, Flexbox, WordPress and Bootstrap.
I'm well versed in design layout, typography and color theory. I have worked primarily with the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), and have administered websites in WHM and cPanel.
I'm currently gaining skills in the area of WordPress custom theme development. This will enable me to design completely customized sites built on WordPress, which I plan to offer as a service in the near future.

I believe that great design serves function. A big part of that is basing the design on the purpose of your website, who your target audience is, and the content you want to present. This is where I start with each new project. It also means that the design elements included should enhance the usability of the site, leading to a positive user experience.
It's All in the Details
The details of contrast, color combinations, alignment, and typography can make or break a design. I pay close attention to these details to create clean, consistent designs.
